And again…

Once again I took a hiatus from blogging and I miss it! This time around I’m going to try my best to maintain. Check out my “Who is Orlett?” to see the original purpose for this blog.

Since my last entry in November, lots positives have occurred in my life. The biggest is I am now an AUNTIE!! Daniella was born March 12, 2011. She’s now 5 and a half months and full of energy. As always here are some pics from the missed time.

Today’s word

On a quest to find the perfect name for the young women’s ministry, I came across a scripture that reminded me of my sisters and I.

“A cord of three strands is not easily broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12

It made me think of our strengths and will power. Together we can be a greater force.

I got a J-O-B!

After 4 months and 7 days, I am finally employed as a registered nurse! Go ME! I’ll be working at Sinai Hospital on the pulmonary infectious disease unit. You know what that means…it’s time to go shopping for scrubs! I already purchased my shoes, Dansko, that hopefully will live up to their consumer reviews and not have my feet aching. I love these shoes because they come in funky prints and materials. I bought the petrol design. Check them at Nordstrom.com.

Such is life

“Life changes on a daily basis…but I gotta keep movin’ and make it” ~Juelz Santana

It can be a tough pill to swallow when you begin to succeed and surpass the ones around you then all of a sudden a change occurs in your relationships. They’re around when you’re pretty much on the same level as them, doing the same ish every day. When new doors open and opportunity knocks and you jump to answer, who would have thunk it that things would change amongst your family and friends. Why should I have to down play my success so you feel comfortable? I worked HARD for what I have achieved. And for some of them, things would have been much easier than it was for me, but they chose not to answer that knocking. My fault?…No, I didn’t think so. Daddy says, “You paid your dues. Now let the haters hate!” It’s quite frustrating but such is life. I’m proud, my parents are proud and so are the ones that unconditionally care for me. Deuces!

“I know you like f—, this is child abuse. Call DYFS, I must be gettin’ nicer.”

Song of the day

This came on in the car on the way home from church and immediately put a smile on face. Sing it Kelly! ((Click on the picture to hear it))

“I Don’t Know About Tomorrow” Kelly Price

I don’t know
About tomorrow
I just live from day to day
And I don’t borrow from its sunshine
For its skies may turn to gray
And I don’t worry about my future
For I know what Jesus said
And today He walks beside me
For He knows what lies ahead
Many things about tomorrow
I don’t seem to under-understand
But I, I know, I know, I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds, who holds my hand
Oh yeah, yeah, yes, hey, yes
Who holds my hand

110 years of worshiping and fellowship

This month my church is celebrating our 110th Anniversary and Homecoming. Today was the big celebration with our Sunday morning service and the banquet. The sermon this morning was very moving and the choirs selections were on point. I absolutely LOVE when I experience service that seems specifically for me. It always helps to put things into perspective for my life and where I’m going. Such a great feeling 🙂 Well on for the banquet, I had the honor of being mistress of ceremony along with the master of ceremony Aaron Pack. This was the first time that we really conversed and I must say I really like his vision for his up and coming ministry, Born Again. Born Again is/will be an excellent addition to St. Matthew because it will draw more youth and I believe it will keep them there. I can’t wait until October when it starts up again.

I wanted to share this quote said in church today. I really like the last part, let it marinate. 🙂

“A bell’s not a bell ’til you ring, a song’s not a song ’til you sing it, love in your heart wasn’t put there too stay, love isn’t love ’til you give it away” ~Oscar Hamerstein II

I’ll post pictures of the events once I get them from my dad.

Puddin’s 21st Birthday

September 16th was my little Puddin’s 21st birthday. This weekend she came to Baltimore with some of her friends to celebrate. We met up at Milan, a hot new fashion inspired restaurant and lounge with Italian cuisine. Here are some pictures from the night.
